EXCURSIONS FROM THE ATALANTE CRUISE SHIP

Egypt - Cairo/Full Day

Cairo - known to be one of the most mysterious and fascinating cities in the world. The jewel of the Nile and the heart of ancient civilisation.

Just a few words are needed to conjure up the magnificence and splendour of Cleopatra's Empire and Tutankhamuns all-powerful domain. In Cairo the Egyptian Museum will be visited, where some of the finest specimens of antiquities can be admired including the treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamun, collections of jewellery and some of the most precious objects ever discovered.

Shimmering in the desert are the Pyramids, one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the Sphinx, a witness to Egypt's compelling past, daunting in its wake.

Finally a Papyrus factory and an oriental souvenir shop will be visited where you can buy fantastic souvenirs to take home to remind you of the splendours of Egypt.

Rhodes Island - Tsambika & Valley of the 7 Springs

This excursion is a combination of pilgrimage plus a drive to one of the loveliest areas of Rhodes and is operated without a professional guide. After arrival in Rhodes on Saturday afternoon, you board the coaches and proceed south to the Monastery of the Virgin Mary called "Tsambika" who is the patron saint of Rhodes. Ample time will be given to visit the rich treasures of the monastery and especially the church, which houses the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary. We then proceed to the "Valley of the 7 Springs", one of the most beautiful areas of Rhodes. The area is covered with plane trees and the water flowing out of the 7 springs creates beautiful little streams running down the valley.
We return to the Old City of Rhodes where time will be given for shopping before walking back to the ship, which is always docked a short distance to the Old City.

Symi Island - Monastery of Saint Michael Panormitis

After docking at the picturesque harbour of Symi, passengers will board one of the local boats and follow the western coast of the island to the harbour of Panormitis, where the Monastery of St. Michael Panormitis is situated. Visit the Church of the Monastery, which houses the miraculous icon of St. Michael the Archangel, renowned for answering prayers and performing many miracles. Visit the museum that houses some of the relics of the Monastery. As this excursion is a pilgrimage there will be no guide accompanying participants.
Return to Symi harbour following the same route.

THE PRICES FOR THESE EXCURSIONS ARE INCLUDED IN THE TABLE FOR THE STANDARD AND DELUXE PACKAGE TRIPS TO EGYPT & RHODES/SYMI.
